American Idol’s Top Ten Guy will perform tonight as a result of Crystal Bowersox taking ill earlier today and (per Doctor’s Orders) she is unable to perform tonight.  The guys have graciously agreed to switch nights with the Girls (do they have a choice?)

Michael Lynche:  He sang ‘This is a Man’s World’ By James Brown.  Last week, Michael didn’t deliver like he wanted to and he got mixed  reviews.   He is hoping to be great tonight.  Wow……huge song….but I think that Michael did a pretty decent job.  I love that he complete switched things up and didn’t try to be lil James.  Good Job!  Randy feels the competition has started now.  He got on his feet and gave him a standing O.  Nice.  Ellen enjoyed his performance and feels that is the one to beat.  Fantastic.  Kara said that tonight he went to being a Singer to someone who can be a Great Artist.  He owned his performance.  He is not the same guy.  She is feeling him.  Simon thought that he is now a Lion from the Pussycat that he was last week.  Best performance he has given so far and it didn’t sound dated.  Perhaps Michael is really excited, cause his Wife and Baby are coming out to be with him this week.  866. 436. 5701

John Park:  He sang ‘Gravity‘ by John Mayer.  After watching the playback of her performance, he realized that he was trying too hard last week.  John hopes that his honesty shows through this week.  This is one of my favorite songs, so I was glad that he did well with it.  I think that John has a really strong voice and I hope that his confidence continues to grow, but I didn’t listen to it and think that he added anything new.  John Mayer killed it, so he really needed to deliver!   He definitely sounded more comfortable with himself on this one.   Randy thought that this was a better choice for him, but he didn’t bring anything new to John Mayer’s version.  Ellen thought this was a good choice and he could have brought more soul to it.  Kara thought that it was way better than last week.  But she is concerned about his lack of connection to the song.  He has to let go.  Take some risk.  Simon thinks that John’s group ‘Purple Haze’ may get their lead singer back  (ouch).  He didn’t see anything original and he wasn’t believable.  He doesn’t feel authentic.  He can’t see him at the top of the Record Charts.  The other Judges agreed except Ellen who has continued to be a Cheerleader for him and urged him to give more, because it is in him.

Casey James:  He sang ‘I Don’t Want To Be’ by Gavin Degraw.  Last week, Casey got great reviews, so I’m sure he is hoping for a repeat.  He says that he just wants to have a good time.  This song has been performed by former Idol Contestants Bo Bice and Elliott Yamin.  Pretty big shoes for Casey to try to step into.   I think that Casey did a decent job but I don’t know if he is going to give the Judges an Ah ha moment.  I liked it, but I wasn’t excited about it.   Although, I did enjoy his Guitar playing.  He is actually really good on the guitar.   Randy thought that he channeled Rock Stars of the past.  He can see him making music in this genre and he didn’t know that he played the guitar like that.  Ellen thought that he rocked this great song, but she would like to see him perform more.  A little stiff thought.  Kara is a fan, but she feel that he took two steps backwards.  Other than showing that he is a Guitar Player, he didn’t do anything new this week.  This is a singing competition and he didn’t showcase his Vocals.  She wanted to see more.  (I think Kara is coming down a little harder than she has to, so that America knows that she is not biased, because she has been having dreams about Casey).  Simon is with Kara, last week he was an original with his song choice, but this week he can be compared to any Singer in a lounge (ouch)

Alex Lambert:  He sang ‘Everybody knows’ by John Legend.  Alex is crazy nervous tonight and if you remember last week, his nerves really impacted his performance and Simon cautioned him that he has got to get it together.   Oh…..I was worried at first, because he was so nervous.  But as the music played, his nerves calmed and he really started to relax and enjoy his own performance.  Good…very good!   Randy likes him and he is glad that he improved  from last week.  He enjoyed it.  Way legit.  Ellen thought that he really improved since last week and she loves that he is gaining so much so quickly.  He thinks he is very unique.  Kara thinks that everyone is probably rooting for him.  He has a great and incredible and recordable voice.  Simon thought it was a million times better last week.  He shouldn’t be nervous, because he is good.  Simon doesn’t feel that he has a killer instinct, he needs to connect with the song and he is not showing that he wants or believes that he can win.  He doesn’t want to hear about his nerves anymore.  In short, he needs to be in it to win it!

Todrick Hall:  He sang ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ by Tina Turner.  Todrick says that he took heed of all of the Judge’s criticism and this week, he did change the song, but it is still recognizable.  I love the humble angle.  Tonight, he wants to show that he is a Singer, not just a Dancer.  I have to give Todrick some dap on this one.  When I heard that he was singing Tina’s classic, I was really embarrassed for him.  I assumed that he would be Lil Tina.  But I think that this arrangement works well.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t blown away by his vocals.  This performance showed that his vocals could be stronger and the end was really pitchy…  Randy thought the falsetto at the end was hot.  He didn’t love this one.  He would like him to just sing the song and stop changing the songs up so much.  Ellen thought that he should sing and move.  He is a performer.  Ellen wants him here, but she doesn’t think what he did tonight worked.  Kara thought that he is so likeable and it got better when he started moving.  Since his 1st performance, he seems to be lost.  Simon thought he should move, but not sing.  He compared it to a theme park performance, he was very corny and he is getting this completely and utterly wrong.

Jermaine Sellers:  He sang ‘What’s Going On’ by Marvin Gaye.  Not quite sure why, but Jermaine felt it necessary to rock a onesie on American Idol.  Jermaine is a walking contradiction, he wants the Judges to get on his agenda, but he says he respects their advice.  I always worry when anyone decides to sing anything by Marvin Gaye.  Jermaine is interesting, because he has a serious arrogance to him that shows while he performs, but I thought his interpretation wasn’t offensive.  But I doubt I would buy it.  Randy thought it was better than last week.  Parts worked, but it wasn’t a great performance.    Ellen loves his style and that he rocks a onesie.  But this performance didn’t work for her.  Kara thinks that he just does too much.  Look at the lyrics of the song and stop try to force it.  He doesn’t have to show everything that he can do.  Simon  thinks that he waters down the songs and makes it lose it’s importance.  Jermaine invited him to church to see and understand what he does.  Simon accepted, but pointed out that Church has nothing to do with his performance.  Jermaine then asked for suggestions on what to sing next week to which Simon heartlessly told him ‘You may not be here next week’.  Jermaine professed that since he knows Jesus, he will be here next week.  Ellen suggested that he try some Frankie Beverly and Maze, if he makes it.

Andrew Garcia: He sang ‘You Give Me Something’ by James Morrison.  Wow….Andrew is a Break Dancer.  Who Knew?  Last week, he didn’t impress the Judges, this week he is hoping to have fun doing what he does best and he hopes that the Judges like it.  This week, he is performing without his guitar.  Hmmm…..I really like this song and after a shaky start, Andrew’s sound really came in loud and strong. But again, I wasnt excited.  Randy didn’t get it.  He thinks that he  is better than this.  This performance was pitchy and all over the place.  Ellen disagreed.  There were a couple of pitch problems.  She thinks the problem is that he set the bar so high, that everyone keeps comparing him to his ‘Straight Up’ moment.  Kara agreed that Andrew has went down hill since ‘Straight Up’.    She thinks he played it too safe.  Simon is frustrated that he hasn’t picked the right song in the last two weeks.  He didn’t stand out and the song was just okay.  He is disappointed in him still (OUCH). 866.436.5707

Aaron Kelley:  He sang ‘My Girl’ by The Temptations.  He is a budding Photographer.  Last week, he got good feedback from the Judges and he even got some personal encouragement from Simon.  This kid is incredibly likeable.  I enjoyed his spin on this classic.  Randy was worried for him at first.  He thought it was 200 percent better this week.  Ellen liked that he was more confident and that he moved around.  She thought it was a little forgettable.  Kara really liked it and she likes him.  He is consistent and he has great control.  She thinks he will get better and better.  Simon didn’t like it.  He thought it was all over the place.  He needs to work on who he wants to be.  This song choice was too old fashioned and advised him to study Young Contemporary Artists like Justin Bieber to get an idea of where he should be.

Tim Urban:  He sang ‘Come on Get Higher’ by Matt  Lathanson.  Last week, Tim got some really harsh ‘tough love’ from the Judges.  This week, Tim picked a song that he is really comfortable with.  Ok, this week was obviously better than last week, he seemed to really be enjoying himself.  But again, this performance does not make me think that this guy might win.  I really could help these people out.  Randy started out asking how it was for him (never a good sign).  He thought there were pitch problems all over the place.  Nothing special, nothing jumped out.  (the crowd bo0s).  Ellen encouraged them to keep booing, because she didn’t like it either.  She thinks he should be a cast member on ‘Glee’ where he could be appreciated.  No charisma, no stage presence, but he is adorable. She Doesn’t think the singing is the thing for him.  Kara liked the song choice, she sees him more in this lane. But he didn’t make it his own.  She is frustrated with him.  He looks the part, but he’s not all there yet.  Could be one day.  Simon disagreed with  all 3.  He thought it was a marked improvement.  He liked that Tim listened to the criticism and sung a young song.  He is impressed by his attitude and work ethic.  He likes that he got on with it and didn’t whine.

Lew Dewzye:  He sang ‘Lips of An Angel’ by Hinder.  Lew is performing tonight without his guitar and I am glad that he doesn’t need to have his guitar to sound good and be comfortable.  I really like his voice.  Randy thought it was a bold move and he liked that he came out of his comfort zone.  The song had a a couple of pitch problems, but he liked it.  Ellen liked it too.  She likes his passion and that he was really in the song.  Great.  Kara thought it was a big improvement from last week, she heard some pitch problems.  She can hear him on the radio right now.  Simon thinks that vocally he is head and shoulder above everyone else.  He needs self belief.  Simon thinks that he may be the one to beat.  Lew acknowledged that he is nervous without his guitar and Simon basically advised him to get over it!
