Ebony Magazine Recreates Historic Tribute Covers

 

 As part of their 65th Anniversary Celebration, Ebony Magazine has recreated some of their most Famous Covers of Legendary Entertainers, Athletes and  Political figure such as Diana Ross, Diahnn Carroll, Sammie Davis Jr., Eartha Kitt, Richard Roundtree, Duke Ellington, Mahalia Jackson, Muhammad Ali, Lena Horne, Martin Luther King, Sidney Poitier and Dorthy Dandridge are captured by some of today’s Top performers respectively: Mary J. Blige, Taraji P. Henson, Usher, Regina King, John Legend, Yolanda Adams, Omar Epps, Jurnee Smollett, Samuel Jackson, Blair Underwood and Nia Long. 

 Everyone is excellent in their tribute.  I think I am going to say that out of all of pics, Mary J. Blige’s is my favorite.  I didn’t even recognize her, because she is so into her character.  Excellent job Ebony!

American Idol Results 4/21/10

 I hope that American Idol breaks new records tonight wit the amount of money that is raised.  Yes, they were pretty silly at times tonight, but the cause is so good, I will forgive them.

American Idol Gives Back Opened with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama delivering a Special Message to give to Idol gives back and make a difference.  Then he imitates Randy and says ‘You’re All My Dogs’ (Why).  Michelle does better by urging Simon to be nice. 

Ryan in the Idol Studios will be joined with by his Co-host Queen Latifah over in Pasadena  Civic Center via Satellite.  Tonight’s Guest include The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Sir Elton John, Mentor Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Joss Stone and more will be performing tonight!

And surprisingly, someone will go home.  Usually, they don’t like to send someone home on this night, but I guess since they introduced the ‘Save 1 Contestant’ each Season, there is no time to add an extra week during Idol Gives Back.

All the top 12 Take The Stage to sing ‘Keeping  The Dream Alive’.  As I announce each week, I hate the group numbers.  The one highlight is when Crystal belts out a note.  Otherwise, I could have had a V-8.  Video

Celebrities Come together for ‘Hope For Haiti’ Global Benefit

Celebrities came together to participate in a Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief  for Haiti.  The event was broadcasted in three locations: The Kaufman Studios in New York, CBS Television Studios in Los Angeles and at The Hospital Club in London.  The Event was given by MTV studios in an effort to provide Relief for the Millions of Haitians devastated by the 7.1 Earthquake last week.  Big name celebrities donated their time and performed Inspirational Music (available for purchase on Itunes).  All Celebrities clearly checked their egos at the door.  Well Done!   For more information on how to donate, Click Here

Really looking forward to this one!  I hear that Mariah Carey’s performance is Oscar buzzworthy and making everyone forget about ‘Glitter’ (which I never thought was that bad).

Blige.  On a side note, I just saw ‘I Can Do Bad All by Myself’ and Kudos to Tyler and Mary J.  I loved this movie.  It is his best film to date!  I laughed and cried.  Tyler is getting stronger and better with each film.  Mary J. did her thing and her singing was…..Mary….what else can you say?

Celebrities attend the Launch of Gucci’s Tattoo Heart Collection!

The Stars came out and shined brightly at the Launch of Gucci’s Tattoo Heart Collection last night in New York City.  Pop Princess Rihanna is the official face of the collection’s latest ad campaign to benefit The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).   She was joined by other celebrities who came out to show their suport.  Gucci is donating 25% of each sale to support UNICEF programs for orphans and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. The campaign will run until January 31, 2009.
